My name is Odette Stringwell. I am a professionally qualified Counsellor working as an Associate within Rotherham Counselling Services. I hold a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling, building upon previously gained certificates of Counselling Skills and Counselling Theory. I have completed professional development enabling me to provide both face to face and on-line counselling to clients. I regularly attend additional and ongoing professional development training.
Prior to working as, a counsellor I worked as a Human Resources Manager in both private and public sector organisations. Throughout my HR career I have worked with and managed a wide range of people supporting them through the ups and downs of working life.
As a counsellor, my approach is person-centred and this means that the client is at the heart of everything I do. It is important to me that my client has control of their therapy in a way which meets their needs and this is something I discuss with clients as we begin our therapeutic work together. I believe that the client is the expert of themselves even though it may not feel that way when in the midst of whatever issue or difficulty they are facing. I work with them, supporting them to find their own way through their problems. I have worked with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationships and bereavement. I have also worked with many pregnancy related issues including termination, miscarriage and infertility.
I am a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure. My counselling work is regularly supervised independently and externally to my private practice, along BACP guidelines. BACP Registration Number. 00927962
