Hello, my name is Trish Kent. I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor working within private practice. I hold a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling & have a further Advanced Diploma in Couples Counselling from the Relate Institute, gained through the University of Hull. During my career I have gained knowledge of the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and have worked with individuals and couples using a range of skills obtained from courses and various workshops, including Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Anger Management and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy skills to name a few. I continue to pursue various kinds of training to maintain my personal and professional development. Within my career I have covered a range of issues, including low self-esteem, loss of confidence, communication difficulties, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, bereavement, loss and loneliness, and I have brought a range of skills into my counselling practice. My way of working is primarily client- centred, where you are the expert of yourself, and my intention is to help you find your way through the difficulties you are having, remaining alongside you and offering my support and belief in your resourcefulness and capacity to move forward. As an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred), I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice. My counselling work is regularly supervised, independently and externally to my private practice, in line with BACP guidelines.
